Demak, Central Java. A migrant worker returning to Indonesia is among five drug smugglers nabbed in a crystal methamphetamine raid in the Demak district of Central Java, police said on Saturday (15/10).

The migrant worker, identified by the initials YT, had previously worked in Malaysia before being nabbed by the National Anti-Narcotics Agency (BNN) earlier this month after attempting to smuggle around 56 kilograms of crystal meth from Tegal, Central Java, to Tangerang, Banten.

Based on tip-offs from the suspect, BNN raided another home in Kalisari, a village in the Demak Baru subdistrict, on Saturday where a further 11 kilograms of the drug were seized after being discovered in a water pump engine.

BNN law enforcement deputy Insp. Gen. Arman Depari said the drugs were identified as top quality crystal methamphetamine and believed to be delivered from Malaysia.

“We have not found out whether the drugs were produced in Malaysia or other country as the investigation is still on going,” Depari said in Demak, as reported by state run Antara news agency.

BNN also arrested four other suspects, identified as WJ of Pati, Central Java, WD from Rembang in Central Java, TT from Karawang in West Java and YS from Jakarta.
