NBC: I Don’t See Trump as a Legitimate President
In an exclusive interview with NBC News' "Meet the Press," Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., said he does not believe Donald Trump is a "legitimate president," citing Russian interference in last year's election.
Asked whether he would try to forge a relationship with the president-elect, Lewis said that he believes in forgiveness, but added, "it's going to be very difficult. I don't see this president-elect as a legitimate president."
When pressed to explain why, he cited allegations of Russian hacks during the campaign that led to the release of internal documents from the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton's campaign co-chairman, John Podesta.
"I think the Russians participated in helping this man get elected. And they helped destroy the candidacy of Hillary Clinton," Lewis told NBC News.

WNU Editor: I lived in a country (Soviet Union) that did not have a respect on providing a voice to the people on what they felt about the government that they had. This is why I love and respect the political systems in the West .... specifically the parliamentary system in Canada (where I live), and the political system in the U.S.. When people in China and Russia and elsewhere ask me on what is my take on this political system .... I always respond that societies like China/Russia/etc. are cultures that are infinitely older and more mature than the U.S. .... but when it comes to politics and having a proper political system ..... the U.S. is (without question) the adult in the room. That is why Rep. John Lewis's remarks that President-Elect Trump is not a legitimate President are unfortunate. He is upset with the result of the election, and he is venting his anger. But he is also giving voice to the critics of the U.S. political system in Russia and China (and elsewhere) by providing them an excuse on why they should not reform their system to mirror what we have in the West .... and yes, Rep. John Lewis' remarks will have an impact (even over there). I know that the political systems in the U.S./Canada/and elsewhere are not perfect .... far from it .... but it is the best that is out there, and we who live here should always support it ..... even if we may not like the election results that it gives. Case in point .... I live in Canada. In our last election, Prime Minister Trudeau won with only 39.5% of the vote .... yup .... 60.5% voted against him. But our system makes him the Prime Minister .... and even though he is not the person that I voted for in 2015 .... when I met him with a group of others a few months ago .... I did shake his hand and I did address him as my Prime Minister.
