The leader of ISIS used 17 suicide car bombs and 300 fighters to clear an escape path during the siege of Mosul, according to a senior Kurdish official.

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi escaped from Mosul two months ago when the road to the west was briefly re-opened by an ISIS fighter counter attack, claims Fuad Hussein.

The chief of staff to Kurdish President Masoud Barzani, told the Independent that the self-declared Caliph used the fighters to clear a road leading out of the city.
