Top Congressional Democrats Say It's Unlikely To Get All Americans And Allies Out Of Afghanistan By The End Of The Month

Daily Mail: BREAKING NEWS: Adam Schiff warns it's 'unlikely' Biden will rescue all Americans and Afghan allies before his August 31 deadline as US military tells president to decide on extension by TUESDAY or there might not be enough time to get troops out

* Adam Schiff, the chair of the House Intelligence Committee, spoke on Monday as he left a briefing

* He said he does not believe all US citizens and the Afghans who have helped the US forces will be evacuated by Biden's August 31 deadline

* The Taliban's spokesman warned there 'will be consequences' if the remaining US troops aren't out by Aug 31

* The US military have told Biden, CNN reported on Monday night, that he has until Tuesday to make a decision whether to stay beyond Aug 31

* But President Joe Biden refused to take questions on the threat hours later, or even address the crisis

* Schiff said that he is deeply concerned about an ISIS attack on the crowds massing around Kabul airport, and the international troops near them

* Schiff also said he does not believe there has been an intelligence failure because the Biden administration was warned

* National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan then said it would be down to Biden if troops stay past August 31

* White House Press Secretary then snapped at a reporter who said Americans in Kabul were 'stranded'

* The White House admitted Monday it has no idea how many Americans are still in Afghanistan

* Sullivan said 'many' left without telling the embassy and now there's no reliable tally of how many are there

Joe Biden is 'unlikely' to meet his August 31 deadline to evacuate US citizens and their allies from Afghanistan, the chair of the House Intelligence Committee said Monday.

Adam Schiff made the grim prediction after an intelligence briefing Monday evening, as the Taliban rejected a mooted extension to the withdrawal date.

Schiff said a full evacuation was 'possible' but 'very unlikely given the number of Americans who still need to be evacuated, the number of SIV’s, the number of others who are members of the Afghan press, civil society leaders, women leaders.'
