Trade between China and North Korea grew almost 40% in the first quarter. So much for China working with us - but we had to give it a try!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 5, 2017
Reuters: Trump denounces China trade with North Korea, casts doubt on cooperation
U.S. President Donald Trump denounced China's trade with North Korea on Wednesday and cast doubt on whether Beijing is working with Washington to counter the North Korean nuclear threat.
"Trade between China and North Korea grew almost 40 pct in the first quarter. So much for China working with us - but we had to give it a try!" Trump said in a Twitter post.
Even before Pyongyang said on Tuesday it had successfully test-launched an intercontinental ballistic missile, Trump recently suggested he was running out of patience with China's modest steps to pressure North Korea and has been considering moving ahead on trade actions.
Analysts said the latest missile could put all of the U.S. state of Alaska in range for the first time.
Trump posted the tweet shortly before leaving for Warsaw, Poland, on his way to a Group of 20 summit in Germany on Friday and Saturday.

WNU Editor: Dealing with China for over 30 years .... I have lost count on how many times I heard people talking about a deal that they made with China (or hope to make) .... and then come back to me later on how the Chinese decided to do the exact opposite on what they promised to do. President Trump is right .... China is only stalling for time and they are hoping that this will all blow-over in the next news cycle .... but in the meantime the trade and commerce continues albeit under a different cover. From a geopolitical point of view I think both China and Russia are making a mistake in measuring what the U.S. response may be. In the past .... North Korea had a nuclear bomb or two and a delivery system that was limited. Bottom line .... no one really cared with the exception of the South Koreans and the Japanese. Now .... North Korea most likely has the components for a number of bombs, and their objective is to have a delivery system to hit the U.S.. Threatening to bomb the U.S. is also not alleviating the tensions. As a result of this nuclear and missile proliferation .... we are now witnessing a huge shift in the geopolitical balance from this part of the world. Unfortunately .... both Beijing and Moscow are 10 years behind, feeling safe that everything will be OK in the long term. I call this a text-book example on what happens when governments are in denial with what is happening on the international scene .... and in the end .... are in shock when this all blows up.
