MIT Researchers Propose LiDAR with 3um Distance Resolution

MIT Media Lab publishes a IEEE Access paper "Rethinking Machine Vision Time of Flight
With GHz Heterodyning
" by Achuta Kadambi and Ramesh Raskar presenting "time-of-flight imaging that increases its depth resolution 1,000-fold. That’s the type of resolution that could make self-driving cars practical... At distances of 2 meters, the MIT researchers’ system... has a depth resolution of 3 micrometers."
