Pentagon Announces Two Successful Hypersonic Missile Tests

The missiles, which are launched from a bomber jet and accelerated by a booster before detaching, are able to be guided to a precise target. Above is a rendering of a missile  

Daily Mail: US has now successfully tested TWO hypersonic missiles after a series of failures in new arms race with Russia and China 

* The Pentagon confirmed it successfully tested the weapon off California 

* Hypersonic weapons travel at more than five times the speed of sound 

* DARPA also confirmed it tested ground-launched hypersonic weapons, which could be fired out of HIMARS such as the ones used in Ukraine 

The United States has successfully tested two hypersonic missiles recently, the Pentagon said on Wednesday. 

The news comes amid growing concerns Russia and China have had more success developing their own hypersonic weapons than the US. 

The US Air Force confirmed it tested its Air-Launched Rapid Response Weapon (ARRW) booster on Tuesday off the California coast.
