Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Kyiv on Wednesday in a gesture of support as Ukraine's counteroffensive against Russian forces grinds into its fourth month with only small gains.
Blinken took the typical route to the Ukraine, arriving in Poland on Tuesday evening before taking an overnight train to Kyiv. He has taken the trip to the war-torn country four times since the invasion began and six since taking office.
As Blinken made the journey under the cover of darkness, Russian aircraft were pummeling the Ukrainian capital with cruise missiles, hours after Putin's forces targeted the port city of Odesa in a drone attack.

The media line is that Blinken is there to show continued Western support of the Zelensky government, and to bring some money .... Blinken brings another $1 billion to Kiev – Reuters (RT). The fact that this is happening after the Ukraine Defense Minister was fired two days ago makes me wonder if there is a connection.
The other reason why he is in Kyiv is to give some bad news on the Erdogan - Putin meeting in Sochi that happened a few days ago. Bottom line. Russia is not going to budge until its demands are met .... so expect the war to continue for a great deal longer.
