BBC: Clooney donates $1m to fight war criminals
Hollywood actor George Clooney has given $1m (£750,000) to The Sentry campaign group to investigate people who finance and benefit from conflict in Africa.
In a statement, he said:
Our focus is to make sure that war crimes don’t pay. We want to make it more difficult for those willing to kill en masse to secure their political and economic objectives.
When we’re able to go after the warlords’ wallets and bankrupt those who choose the bullet over the ballot, suddenly the incentives are for peace, not war; transparency, not corruption.”
This doesn't come completely out-of-the-blue, as the actor has involved himself in African politics before.

WNU Editor: It is a small amount to fight a massive problem .... but symbolically it is huge .... and it will an impact. No respectable individual/company/bank wants to be linked to a war criminal .... especially in the West.
