CBC: Edmonton police investigate 'acts of terrorism' after officer stabbed, pedestrians run down
5 people were injured and 1 person is in custody
A man who stabbed a police officer with a knife and deliberately plowed into pedestrians on Edmonton's busiest downtown strip is being investigated for "acts of terrorism," police said at a news conference early Sunday.
A 30-year-old man is in custody following a high-speed chase just before midnight through streets filled with bar patrons and football fans. The chase ended only after a white U-Haul van the man was driving struck four pedestrians and flipped on its side.

WNU Editor: It is surreal to be watching how the news is covering this story in Canada (I live in Montreal). I am watching both CTV News and the CBC, and you can just see the anchormen not wanting to go where most viewers are probably thinking .... that the suspect is either a Canadian who is Muslim and who was radicalized to kill Canadians .... or (and this is the big fear) an immigrant. But after this story is covered, they go straight to yesterdays protests against Canada's open door immigration policy, and where the same anchormen have no problems calling these protesters extreme far-right pro-white nationalist protestors. .... Far-right, anti-fascist protesters temporarily shut Quebec border crossing (CBC). And here is the rub .... on Quebec's French news stations the coverage is completely opposite from what the major English news channels are broadcasting. They have no problem calling the suspect in Edmonton's attack a Muslim terrorist, and as to yesterday's protests against Canada's immigration policy, they are calling the protestors "concerned Quebecers" who see Canada's current policies a direct threat to French Quebec's culture and language.
Update: Correction. French Radio Canada just called these French Quebec nationalist protestors extreme far-right.
