* Former U.S. intelligence officer Ron Rockwell Hansen, 60, was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty in March
* Hansen was sentenced by a federal judge on Tuesday in Salt Lake City, Utah
* He attempted to pass U.S. defense information to the People's Republic of China's Intelligence Service agents between 2013 and 2017
* He reportedly received $800,000 for sharing the information

A former U.S. intelligence officer from Utah who pleaded guilty to attempting to pass defense information to China was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Ron Rockwell Hansen, 60, was sentenced by a federal judge on Tuesday in inside a Salt Lake City courtroom, according to an announcement from the Department of Justice.

He told the judge he was sorry for the 'pain and damage' he caused his loved ones.
